At the last meeting of the Lowestoft branch Hilary Platts, Suffolk County Health Information Librarian, outlined to members the Suffolk Information on Prescription scheme. This is a scheme whereby any member of the public can be given assistance at their local library about any information they wish to know about such conditions such as falls, memory loss and dementia, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, depression, anger management, stress and anxiety. There are also many support services and self-help options for a range of related topics that staff can assist with in reserving books from the book-list, printing out information or showing you how to do it yourself on the computers available freely at the library. The service can be accessed by anyone on a computer at www.suffolk.gov.uk/informationonprescription. Thirteen members enjoyed the May minibus mystery tour which visited North Norfolk via Broadland, with break stops at Sheringham, Cley Marshes visitor centre, Cromer and Gorleston. Five members from the group are visiting Blackpool for the National Pensioners' Convention Summer Parliament at the beginning of June. The June mystery tour on the 10th will visit Suffolk beauty spots and bookings can be made to the chairman by the next meeting on Monday, June 8.
