Talented pupils and generous businesses have been praised after a 'phenomenal' amount was raised at a school's summer fair.

More than £1,200 was raised as Corton Primary School enjoyed their annual summer fair recently.

A spokesman for the school in The Street, Corton said: 'The sun was out for the whole afternoon, allowing everyone to enjoy dance and singing performances from some talented pupils. There were various activities including bouncy castles, a penalty shoot-out, tombola, nail painting, cake sales and a fantastic barbecue.'

The school holds events like this to cover some of the costs of travel when pupils attend trips, and money raised from this event will also be spent on new computing resources to support learning.

The spokesman added: 'The summer fair raised a phenomenal £1,204.27 - the school's best total ever for a summer fair. We would like to sincerely thank the Friends of Corton for organising the fair. We really appreciate all their hard work and tireless efforts to ensure that this year's summer event was, once again, a huge success.

'We would also like to say a massive thank you to the following companies for kindly donating prizes to our fayre – Haven, Beacon Bingo, Potters, Sentinel Leisure Trust, Morrisons, The White Horse pub and Tesco.'
