THOUSANDS of spectators lined one of the main routes through Lowestoft on Sunday to watch the annual carnival parade.Families started gathering in the warm sunshine along London Road South up to an hour ahead of the 3pm start to watch the colourful floats and walkers in crazy costumes pass by as part of the procession.

Families started gathering in the warm sunshine along London Road South up to an hour ahead of the 3pm start to watch the colourful floats and walkers in crazy costumes pass by as part of the procession.
This year's parade - the 41st to take place in the town - was based around a theme of dance and entries were interspersed with music from bands including the Wellingborough Redwell carnival band, who had travelled from the Midlands to join the parade, the Glen Moriston pipe band from Bury St Edmunds and the lively Suffolk Samba.
Recently-crowned carnival queen Jade Searby and her attendants Aneliese Rix and Chloe Smithson took pride of place at the front of the parade sitting in the powerboat which is raced by a team from Lowestoft's Lings Honda and which took in the powerboat grand prix off Lowestoft just a fortnight ago.
Money was collected along the route, from Kirkley Park Road and over the bridge to Katwijk Way, and the proceeds go to the Friends of Lowestoft Hospital.
