An iconic hotel is hoping to become the latest venue to install electric vehicle charging points for customers’ cars.
Plans have been lodged with Waveney District Council to install two Tesla Electric Vehicle (EV) charging units in the car park of the Swan Hotel in Southwold.
Southwold-based brewer, distiller and retailer Adnams is proposing to install the two Tesla EV charging units in the hotel car park “to be affixed to the building” at Market Place, Southwold.
A design and access statement submitted to the council states: “The spaces will be available for all residents to use with any guests owning an electric vehicle having the opportunity to reserve one of the spaces whilst staying at the hotel.
“One of the units would be locked to Tesla vehicles only and the other to be open to all makes/models of electric cars.
“Adnams is a sustainable business and would like to make it easier for its customers to live sustainably too by providing ‘free to charge’ electric vehicle charging stations for them to use.”
The plans are currently “awaiting decision.”
Earlier this year Adnams revealed it had rolled out free electric vehicle charging points across six sites – five pubs in Suffolk and one in Norfolk, including The Crown at Southwold, The Five Bells at Wrentham, The Plough at Wangford and The Bell in Walberswick.
