Taking issue with Rachel

NORMALLY, I skip Rachel Moore's page but her headline stuck out to me (being in my early teens); I think it's fair to say that I was more than a little disappointed.

NORMALLY, I skip Rachel Moore's page but her headline stuck out to me (being in my early teens); I think it's fair to say that I was more than a little disappointed.

I would like to start off with her accusation that youngsters cannot spell, use an apostrophe, or hold a decent conversation.

I don't know how often she mixes with youngsters but the vast majority of the people I go to school with are well equipped to carry out these tasks.

I am 15 and as far as I am aware it is not correct grammar to start sentences with and or but, though these mistakes of yours do not matter purely because you think that you can use an apostrophe and hold a conversation; maybe I should revise my grammar as a youngster I must be the one in the wrong.

Adding insult to injury she has gone on to say that confidence in children is misplaced. Most of the children I know have very little self-confidence as it is, the last thing they need is a journalist telling them that it is undeserved.

I don't know what schools Ms Moore has been to lately because none of the schools I, or my friends have been to, have been “smiley, back-patting” and they definitely tell you that there are winners and losers. All of the sporting events held at the schools result in one team winning and another team losing and competition is certainly not child abuse.

Ms Moore regularly complain about the teaching staff of the local schools but most teacher work extremely hard and face enormous hurdles to jump every day and maybe if she had any experience as a teacher she would not be as hard on them as she has in the past.

When her children get their results will she put their grades to hard work, or easy exams? Suppose they fail a subject having tried their best, how will she think they will feel after her constant slating of how easy exams have got?
