WHAT can be done about the tankers moored off Lowestoft, Kessingland and Southwold?

Well done The Journal for highlighting a potential problem with pollution in the bay.

We had noticed for some time now a large number of large boats off Kessingland and Lowestoft, but thought as when we first noticed them it was stormy weather, that this was a stacking system for the Port of Felixstowe.

Yes, the port is some way away, but until the article about the dangers to Southwold, they were merely an unsightly blot on the sea.

Their presence is quite a threat, in case of an accident, the oil will not be packaged neatly in drums and washed up on the beach to be "rescued and used" by motorists, any accident or spill, will be a catastrophe.

Suffolk Coastal MP John Gummer seems to have taken up the cause for Southwold; will Waveney MP Bob Blizzard do the same for Lowestoft and Kessingland I wonder, because any any spilage will not be confined to Southwold?
