POLICE are trying to trace a man who accosted a 14-year-old girl on Lowestoft seafront.
Officers were called to Station Square on Monday to reports that a girl was in a distressed state, saying a man had tried to grab her. She said she had been walking from Claremont Pier towards the South Pier between 8.55pm and 9.05pm when the man approached and asked her for her bike.
She refused and cycled away but, after stopping near the fountains, she saw him walking towards her again. He tried to grab her before asking her questions and making sexual comments.
She cycled off but on reaching Station Square she was approached a woman who saw she was upset. The man then reappeared but when the woman tried to challenge him he walked away.
l The man was in his mid 30s to early 40s, about 5ft 9in, and 'quite chubby'. He was wearing a light-coloured jumper and blue jeans. If you can help, ring Lowestoft police on 01986 835300.
