DETECTIVES are appealing for information after two nasty robberies in south Lowestoft.

In both incidents, two teenagers have been targeted by thieves in the early hours of Saturday.

An 18-year-old man was walking along London Road South around 2am and was near the cemetery at Pakefield when he noticed an old dark, possibly burgundy/purple coloured, car parked up nearby.

There appeared to be two people in the vehicle and one stood next to the car. The man outside the vehicle - white, of big build and aged in his late teens to mid 20s - spoke to him and then attacked the man, knocking him to the ground.

The 18-year-old continued to be assaulted and the man demanded he hand over valuables. The thief then fled taking an Ipod and two mobile phones and leaving the 18-year-old on the ground.

The teenager suffered a fractured nose, cuts and bruising and police are seeking witnesses to the assault.

The second incident happened around 2.10am in Durban Road. A 19-year-old man was walking along when he saw a Maroon-coloured car driving past him and noticed a man - the passenger - looking at him.

He carried on his way but then became aware of another man loitering by a tree ahead of him. This man then walked towards him and attacked him, knocking him to the ground and demanding he hand over his valuables.

The 19-year-old was aware of a second man who removed his blue/green coloured rucksack, containing CDs and clothing, and got into the car he saw earlier, as he continued to be attacked.

The teenager managed to get to his feet and ran off, suffering cuts, bruises and grazes. He was briefly chased by the first attacker but managed to get away.

One of the thieves is white, in his 20s, around 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of big build, with short dark hair and wearing a black and white hooded top.

Police are asking anyone who saw either incident or who has any information about those involved to call Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300.
