WHEN are we going to get our town and sea front up to the task of attracting visitors? It is in a state of disarray. Our public places are left and not repaired; the gateway to Kensington Gardens has not been fixed, tiles missing from roofs of buildings in the park, chipped stonework on the monument and both sets of gates could do with a coat of paint.

The upper walls at Kirkley Cliff are in a mess and look an eyesore. A look towards the town along the promenade shows a lack of visitors; the car park at Kirkley Cliff, near the putting green empty, nobody playing on the putting green. The place has a run down air about it.
