ON Sunday, December 30, at approximately 10am I was walking on the beach at Lowestoft, just south of the Claremont Pier, when a large brown dog rushed at me almost knocking me down.

It was barking and jumping and I was terrified.

I managed to shout to the owner, who was standing a few yards away, to please call her dog off me which she did. She then walked off towards the promenade, no apology or concern for me left shaking and trembling.

I am an elderly woman and it took the rest of the day to recover.

Now I know why dogs should be kept on leads on the most popular part of the beach.

I will not be walking on the beach again.
