THERE were smiles all round from tiny tots to mums, dads and grandparents as The Journal Bonny Baby prizes were handed out.They all turned up at the Henstead Arts and Craft centre, on Saturday, for the presentation of gifts which included large framed portraits of the youngsters, birth plaques, a baby buggy and vouchers.

Held at the Paint and Create Studio the prizes were handed out by studio owner Sally Rivett and Andrew Forwood, assistant manager at Westgates store, in Lowestoft, who hosted the photographic shootings of the children carried out by Paul Ziff, of Premier Promotions.

The spring competition attracted over 100 entries with readers being given the opportunity to pick their favourite.

And top of the under 18 months category was one-year-old Evan Olayiwola with proud mum Kay Humm picking up a 20 x 16in portrait of her son, a specially produced birth plaque produced by Lowestoft Porcelain, a voucher for a session with Paint and Create to have copies of his hand or feet printed onto plates, and an O Baby Atlas circle stroller with rain cover worth �70 courtesy of Comfort and Style Baby Equipment, in south Lowestoft.

'I am so proud that he has won and the photo will take pride of place in the front room,' said the delighted mum.

Runner up was 11-month-old Oliver Edmunds and third place was taken by eight-month-old Emma Tucker.

The boys' 18 months to five years section was won by Aubrey Pettit. Runner up was Thomas Flatt and third place was taken for the second year running by Oscar Cone.

Aubrey's mother Deborah said: 'This is the first time I've entered anything like this and this competition is just one of the things you have to do as a mum.'

The girls up to five years heat was won by 29-month-old Alicia Whittaker. Runner up was 21-month-old Olivia Dunkin and third was four-year-old Emily Blyth.

Anthony Cashmore, Alicia's dad, said: 'I'll be hanging the picture on the living room wall where it will take pride of place.'

The winners also won a 20x16in framed canvas texture portrait, a birth plaque and a voucher from Paint and Create for the plate prints.

The runner up in each section received a 10 x 8in portrait framed canvas texture portrait and third place in each category an 8 x 6in framed portrait.

The next competition is set to be held in October with photos of the children due to be taken at Westgate's, in London Road North, from September 21 to 26.
