The mayor of Lowestoft, Nick Webb, is hosting a charity ball as part of his efforts to support Alzheimer's Society.

Mr Webb chose the dementia charity as one of his charities of the year and will welcome guests to the Hotel Victoria in Lowestoft for the charity ball on March 18.

Having already organised a number of fund-raising events – including a Christmas Carol concert for the charity in December – next month's event will be supporting Alzheimer's Society and The Lord Kitchener's Memorial Centre.

Jenna Veneziani, Alzheimer's Society community fundraiser for Norfolk and Suffolk, said: 'We are extremely grateful for the mayor's support. His work has raised vital funds and continues to help the charity to increase awareness of dementia, which affects about 12,000 people in Suffolk.'

The ball takes place at the Hotel Victoria at 7pm on March 18. Tickets cost £35. To buy tickets, please call Sarah on 07870379057.
