BEFORE setting off for Wembley two Lowestoft Town footballers and the club's main sponsor took time out to pass on tips to aspiring youngsters.

Players Jamie Godbold and Matty Potter were joined by Gary Bennett when they visited Kirkley Middle School.

Pupils at the school in Southwell Road were thrilled to see them just a couple of days before the club suffered heartbreak in the final of the FA Vase.

A meal was prepared by school cook Bonnie Gislam and after lunch there was a raffle where pupils could win signed footballs and other prizes - as well as forming a long queue for the footballers' autographs.

The three were thanked for their visit and a school spokesman said: “It was a great experience for our pupils, many of whom went to Wembley to support the side. They were an inspiration to our pupils.”
