Tributes have been paid to a “kind, sweet and funny” young woman who was killed in a serious road accident earlier this week.

Charlotte Oakes, 22, died when a the car she was travelling in collided with another vehicle in Frostenden, near Wrentham in the north of the county, at around 6pm on Wednesday evening.

Suffolk police confirmed Ms Oakes’ identity today as officers renewed appeals for witnesses to come forward.

Friends of Ms Oakes, who lived in Saxmundham, have told of their shock and sadness.

Writing on Facebook, Luke Jones said: “Charlotte was a sweet girl, funny and kind to everyone.

“She always put other people first before herself.

“The memories I have with her will always be cherished,

“I am so saddened and still in so much shock. Rest in peace Charlotte. You will never be forgotten.”

“Her personality was the best; she would make anybody’s day with how funny and random she was and her obsession with Justin Bieber and chicken nuggets,

“She’d put a smile on anybody’s face.

“Why does it always happen to the nicest people?

“You’ll be truly missed Charlotte; fly high beautiful girl.”

Many others have taken to social media to offer their condolences to Ms Oakes’ family.

Angela Challis said the accident was “an awful tragedy”.

“My heart goes out to all her family and friends and to all those involved,” she added.

“Such horrible sad news,” said Helen Armstrong. “What a dear girl. Sending good thoughts to her family.”

Ms Oakes was confirmed dead at the scene after the blue Peugeot 206 she was travelling in collided with a black Isuzu D-Max near to the junction with Gyspsy Lane.

The woman driving her car was also injured and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.

The man driving the Isuzu, suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage should contact Suffolk Constabulary Serious collision investigation Team on 101, quoting CAD 371 of 18 October 2018.
