A LOWESTOFT woman this week described her Halloween horror as she hit out at “yobs” who tarnished the spirit of trick or treat.

And the woman told The Journal how a traumatic turn of events followed after her house had been targeted by youths on Friday.

A firework was left on the window ledge outside her home and set off. But the drama didn't end there, as she was unable to visit and help an elderly friend and the 87-year-old friend then suffered a terrible fall.

“I would like to thank the yobs who placed a firework on my windowsill and lit it before running off. This resulted in me not being able to visit an elderly person because I was awaiting a phone call from the police. This elderly person had to answer a call to her door (which I would have done for her) and fell down a flight of stairs causing her to end up in hospital with a broken shoulder amongst other injuries,” she revealed.

“The firework sparks burnt my window sill and I have to pay £100 excess on my insurance claim for the damage.”

Police investigations were underway this week into the criminal damage incident.

Anyone with information about the incident should telephone Lowestoft police on 01986 835300.
