YES, Stephen Chilvers is right to call himself a miserable, unreconstructed cynic.

YES, Stephen Chilvers is right to call himself a miserable, unreconstructed cynic.

The whole point about having a unitary council is that it will benefit all the people of Lowestoft, not just one party or another.

Who does he want to make decisions for Lowestoft?

People from Kersey, Debenham, Hoxne and Pakenham are not just miles away geographically, they have no interest in or understanding of towns but it is them that make all the decisions that count in Lowestoft.

The county council has no cabinet councillors from Lowestoft. The same is true for Ipswich. That is why all the political parties were convinced that we wanted unitary status for Ipswich and why should Lowestoft be left out?

Any local politician who cares more about Lowestoft than about their narrow party-political line will be arguing for unitary status.
