The British Transport Police have today confirmed that a 46-year-old man from Beccles has died after being struck by a train at North Cove, near Beccles.
Officers were called to the line close to Marsh Lane, yesterday afternoon.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: 'We were called to a crossing (close to Marsh Lane) in North Cove, Beccles, at 3.20pm on Sunday following reports of a person being hit by a train.
'Colleagues from Suffolk Constabulary and East of England Ambulance Service also attended, and a 46-year-old man from Beccles was pronounced dead at the scene.
'The man's death is not being treated as suspicious. His family has been informed.'
The train involved was the 2.07pm Ipswich to Lowestoft service and no one on the train is thought to have been hurt.
The line was handed back to Network Rail at 4.35pm.
A file will be prepared for the coroner and the man won't be named until an inquest has opened.
