STUDENTS at Great Yarmouth College will be offered the cervical cancer vaccination next week as the HPV immunisation programme rolls out to girls aged up to 18.

The catch-up programme to vaccinate older girls is now under way after a huge take-up in schools of 12-13-year-olds in the nationwide programme to help protect women and their families for generations to come.

Vaccinations will take place in the conference room from Monday to Thursday from 10am to 3pm and on Friday from 10am to 1pm.

The vaccination protects girls from the HPV virus that causes cervical cancer and aims to save about 400 lives a year.

The immunisation programme is part of the college's Sexual Health Awareness Week run as part of student enrichment.

All next week experts covering all aspects of sexual health will be on campus in a marquee outside the main reception.
