Vandals have destroyed hundreds of plants being grown for summer displays across the Waveney district.
Intruders targeted the Waveney District Council-owned nurseries in Monckton Avenue, Lowestoft, ripping out bedding plants and setting fire to the main potting shed and two greenhouses.
About 200 grown plants were destroyed and many seeds were also lost, meaning staff are now working hard to ensure colourful displays for places such as parks and roundabouts are not affected as the summer season approaches.
A council spokesman said: 'We are grateful that nobody was hurt and extremely disappointed at the actions of those involved.
'As well as damaging the property, they have shown a blatant disregard for the hard work of the team at the nursery and have destroyed many of the plants they were preparing for the enjoyment of everybody this summer.
She added: 'As the fire destroyed the potting shed, we lost a lot of seeds, which might delay future planting. These will be replaced.
