WAVENEY District Council has announced that it will be hosting a parade and civic reception to celebrate Lowestoft Town's forthcoming appearance at Wembley.

The whole town is invited to come out in support of the event on Sunday, May 18 to mark the club's FA Vase campaign.

It will start at 10.45am with the players and coaching staff boarding an open-top bus from Crown Meadow. The team will take a route through Rotterdam Road and Denmark Road to arrive at Bevan Street for 11am.

The team will then be led by the 469 (Lowestoft) Squadron Air Training Corps marching band through the town centre. The Lowestoft Town Management partnership and Britten Centre are hoping to decorate the town Blue and White for the parade.

Waveney District Council would like to encourage as many locals to line the town centre to celebrate the team's achievements should they win or lose. The parade will then stop at the Britten Centre where the team will address the crowds before carrying on through the town to Milton Road East and on to the Town Hall for a civic reception hosted by the council chairman.

Waveney's service manager for tourism, Darren Newman said: “This event is a great opportunity for the town to join together and celebrate the football club's achievement.”

Further details of the event will be released to the public throughout the next couple of weeks.
