A group of residents sick of seeing so much rubbish in Pakefield Park took matters into their own hands.

A group of community-minded volunteers led by Miranda Kennett spent hours doing a litter pick last weekend.

“We do it because we use the woods and it’s important to us,” she said.

“I have dogs and I come round here several times a week.

“Nobody is paid to look after it, but we use it, it’s our space and we feel responsible for our immediate environment.

“Some of the rubbish is really unsavoury but if you leave it there it will just build up.”

About 10 volunteers spent Saturday (May 23) morning picking up litter around the woods off Love Lane, Lowestoft as well as out of the stream.

And among the several of bags of litter they picked up they found several chairs, cans of paint, duvets and a table.
