A SPECIAL sponsored event is set to hit Lowestoft this Sunday (March 28) as vital funds are raised for a martial arts club that has been left fearing for its future.

The Journal revealed a fortnight ago the plight of the Bushido Martial Arts and Community Fitness Centre in Oulton Broad, which was targeted by thieves overnight on March 5 and March 6.

After burglars escaped with funds estimated at more than £3,500, owner Lee Wall is encouraging members, their families, friends and locals to boost the club as a sponsored walk around Normanston Park takes place this Sunday.

“We are doing the sponsored walk, which will be a maximum of five laps around the park, from 10am on Sunday, and we would like people to come down, support us and donate to the cause,” Mr Wall said.

“All the kids, students and their parents are being sponsored a minimum of £1 per lap to take part and help raise funds.”
