Walker discovers part of bomb on beach

PART of a bomb was discovered on a north Suffolk beach yesterday.

The front end piece of ordinance was found by a local walking on the stretch of beach between Dunwich and Walberswick at around 5.30pm last night (Wednesday).

A coastguard team were out patrolling the beach, searching for a missing man when they were alerted to the discovery.

A spokesman for the coastguard team said the bomb disposal squad from the Royal Navy were due to arrive at the scene this morning (Thursday) to dispose of the bomb part.

The area of beach has been cordoned off.
