Harvest supper and 850 pageant - The annual supper takes place tomorrow night in Wangford Community Centre at 6.30 for 7pm. A few tickets may still be available from the Village Store, at £5 adult and £3 child. The Wangford 850 Pageant written and directed by Jill Merry will be performed throughout the evening, with breaks for each course of the meal and for refreshments. There is a cash bar available. A raffle will also take place before the end. Nearly 30 local people will be taking part to present the 850 year history since Wangford became a village. All profits from the evening will go towards the church roof fund appeal, as will all profit raised from the 850 birthday celebrations which took place over the August Bank Holiday weekend. It is hoped that an announcement of the amount raised will be made during the evening.

Parish Council - The last meeting of the council was on September 8. In the public forum PC Sadler reported that there had been no reported crimes since July 1 but there had been three pets poisoned in the Millfields area. He is investigating. District councillor Wendy Mawer gave an update on district council matters and reported that Waveney Council are working more closely with Suffolk Coastal District Council and have a joint cabinet meeting looking at how they can deliver services jointly. They already share a head of planning and joint chief executive. Councillor Godbold has handed in his resignation to the clerk prior to the meeting. After discussion it was agreed that the clerk would write to Councillor Tiat asking if he would be well enough to attend the meetings again. Councillor attendance and acceptance of apologies will be discussed more fully at the October meeting. Copies of a revised Allotment Tenancy Agreement were circulated and approved. Enquiries continue as to whether the broken piece of play equipment, that vandalised can be part replaced or whether complete renewal at very considerable expense will be necessary. Councillors hope that only the damaged part will need to be replaced. Councillor Miller reported that a holly tree is overhanging by about two feet in Church Street. The clerk will write to the owner. Councillors agreed to ask another company to quote for renewal of its insurance policy as it is thought a saving of about 15 per cent may be achievable. The clerk will obtain a quotation for consideration. Under correspondence councillors attention was drawn to a world of planning training event being held in the Wangford Community Centre on October 15 from 7 to 9pm. Councillors were urged to attend this important meeting. There were no planning items.

Church services - Edward Shotter will lead an early morning eucharist service this Sunday in Uggeshall Church at 8am. Wangford's harvest festival will be at 11am led by Rev David and Julie Eaton. Sotherton's harvest festival will follow at 6pm in Sotherton Church with Rev David Eaton. All are welcome to these special services.
