Sports club - By the time you read this the annual meeting will have been held, with the club in crisis owing to depleted membership. The main activity is now short mat bowls but this sport has never really taken off in Suffolk where carpet bowls holds sway, unlike adjoining counties where it is very strong. The 16th season of the Waveney League has now been completed. The club finds it difficult at times to field a team and several of players have played throughout. Next season's league will comprise five teams from Waveney and four from Norfolk, perhaps a different format will be decided on. As a contrast over 300 short mat bowlers attended Potters Spring Festival including players from Yorkshire, Sussex and the Midlands. Also club players June and Eric Stockdale and Valerie and Peter Soanes, who put up a good performance reaching the later rounds. Snooker is also at a very low ebb, to think that in 1993 there were 98 members including several juniors and a national snooker coach.

Uggeshall church - We are hoping (weather permitting) to have a tidy up in Uggeshall churchyard on Wednesday, April 15 from 9am to noon. Any offers of help in strimming, hoeing, raking or general tidying would be welcome.
