A WARNING to shops and businesses has been issued by police after fake £10 and £20 notes have been handed over to attempt to pay for goods recently.

Officers are urging firms to be alert after several counterfeit notes were discovered in the past couple of weeks.

Officers are urging firms to be alert after several counterfeit notes were discovered in the past couple of weeks.

“Police are reminding all businesses to be alert, to carry out appropriate checks and to report any incidents where bogus notes are found,” a police spokesman said.
