The annual Lowestoft Evacuees summer reunion will be held next weekend.

Former Second World War school evacuees and their guests will be warmly welcomed as the reunion is held from 10.30am to 1pm at the Stella Maris Hall in Gordon Road on Saturday, June 2.

Hosted by the Lowestoft Evacuees Committee, the annual summer reunion gives people from the town who were evacuated during the conflict the opportunity to catch up and reminisce.

Around 3,500 children and teachers from the town were evacuated to the Midlands during the war and the reunion gives people the chance to share memories and stories of this period.

A Lowestoft Evacuees Committee spokesman said: 'All ex Second World War school evacuees are invited to attend with a guest at a contribution of £1 per head to meet up, renew and make new acquaintances. There will be a prize raffle for the funds and all contributions will be gratefully received.'
