Major strides have been taken to demolish a Lowestoft car park.
Contractors, using diggers fitted with specialised hydraulic breakers, have torn one side of Battery Green car park to the ground.
Work began to remove the four-storey structure last week as scaffolding was installed and sections of the surrounding footpath closed.
The project is due to be completed within 13 weeks with a ground level surface car park replacing the current facility until future developments are finalised.
Officially opened to the public on November 5, 1982, Battery Green car park was built on land which previously homed another car park and coach station.
However the location has not always been used to store vehicles.
In 1972 a gun battery was built on the site, before the Admiralty handed the land back to the council in the 1930s.
When the multi-storey structure was originally built the windows were designed to give it the look of a gun battery as a salute to what preceded it.
