A pioneering wave energy machine which capsized off the Suffolk coast last month is on its way back to Lowestoft this afternoon.
The 18 tonne machine was left floating loose off the coast of Southwold when the pontoon being used to tow it into position capsized on September 20.
The machine, which was made at the Small and Co boatyard in Lowestoft, is currently being towed back into the town's port.
A spokesman for Yarmouth Coastguard said: 'All of the bit that went into the water has been attached to a tug and is back on its way to Lowestoft. It was just off the coast of Southwold.'
Engineers will now carry out an extensive damage survey before deciding whether the planned 12-month trial for the unique machine can go ahead.
