At the first session of the Autumn programme on September 11, Mel was the MC. He started the evening with a seasonal song which required the audience to join in and this was followed by a set of tunes from The Crown Street Squeezers and a rendition of Burlington Bertie
by George. The evening's guests, Mary Humphreys and Anahata, provided a mix of mainly traditional songs and tunes, played as duets on melodeon and concertina, or cello and banjo. Many had East Anglian connections and were introduced with historical data and comical stories. The next meeting is on September 25 when the guest will be Geoff Higginbottom. From October 2, Mick and Susie will be holding informal singers' nights, each fortnight, to alternate with the usual club meetings.
