A minute's silence was held in memory of Dick Jacobs who passed away last week. Birthday greetings was passed on to Leslie Cawdron and Denis Thurgood. Unfortunately Terry Harris is not keeping too well along with Doug Barker but Brian Poppy is now out of hospital and resting at home. John Hilder suggested that the end of season bowls lunch will be at the Railway Club on June 5. Len Butcher announced that the next Luncheon Club meeting will be at the Sailors Home on May 27. Ken Knight read out the minutes of the committee meeting held on May 6. The two speakers today were Ron Elliot and George Cable. Ron explained his working life at the Rolls Royce factory and George gave a couple of amusing accounts of his war life with the Anti Tank Regiment. The tea and coffee was courtesy of Colin Barker. The next meeting will be on May 26 and the speaker will be Ken Harman and his subject The Gurkhas.
