Chairman Jean Forbes welcomed members to the meeting held at the RAOB Club, Gordon Road, on April 14. Members were asked to choose their menu for the birthday lunch at the Beaconsfield Club on May 20. In her talk, bangles and booze, Cathy Perkins explained that the haematite used in the jewellery on display was beneficial for some medical conditions but must not be worn by people fitted with pacemakers or who were pregnant. The sets of necklace bracelet and earrings were made by outworkers in Norfolk providing valuable employment. Members were interested in the jewellery and made some purchases. They also sampled the different flavours of fruit wines which could be ordered. Valerie Marley thanked Mrs Perkins for her presentation.

Visitors will be welcome to the next meeting on April 28 when Terry Weatherly will present a look at some interesting buildings in Lowestoft. For further information about the club call 01502 560256.
