With all schools across Waveney being forced to close today (Thursday) – many for the second successive day – 11 schools in the district have already announced closures for tomorrow.

As temperatures stayed just below zero, a Met Office yellow warning for snow is still in place until the end of today. And with forecasters predicting further freezing temperatures tomorrow, there is the prospect of a third consecutive day of disruption.

With the treacherous conditions seeing many road users likely to face difficult journeys, the following schools – according to Suffolk County Council's school closures website – have already announced they will be closed on Friday, March 2.

They are: The Attic PRU Lowestoft, Barnby and North Cove CP School, Beccles Primary Academy, Beccles Free School, Pakefield High School, Sir John Leman High School in Beccles, Southwold Primary School, The Everitt Academy in Carlton Colville, Warren School in Lowestoft, Worlingham CEVCP School and the Ashley School Academy Trust in Lowestoft who tweeted: 'Due to the continuing weather forecast of further snow and freezing temperatures added to the dangerous conditions on the school site we will be closed again on Friday, March 2.'

As it stands, Grove Primary School and Westwood Primary School in Lowestoft and The Albert Pye CP School and Ravensmere Infant School in Beccles have announced they will all be opening at 10am on Friday.
