COUNCILS across Suffolk are to share Government cash of more than �1m, the proceeds of increased revenue from business rates.
Suffolk Coastal District is the big winner, receiving a windfall of �460,000 and Ipswich gets �115,207.
Ipswich Labour Party immediately called for the money to go towards its �8m Budget for Jobs initiative but the council's deputy leader John Carnall said it was cash owed to the borough from last year and it would be put into council's reserves to be used as the recession bites.
Suffolk Coastal is the biggest recipient in Suffolk of the Government's money, being handed one of the largest grants in the country of �460,356.
Waveney receives �211,217, Mid Suffolk will get �103,697, Babergh �51,000, St Edmundsbury �104,394 and Forest Heath - Newmarket and Mildenhall - receives �52,514.
