Waveney would be the losers

IT would be nice to know why the people of Lowestoft fear becoming a part of Norfolk.

I can quite understand why Waveney District Council don't approve of the idea; it would put many of their crazy ideas on the back burner such as there state of the art "club house" they call the new civic centre.

But seriously, can anybody tell me what Suffolk County Council has done for Lowestoft, apart from Guy McGregor giving us free bus rides for a week during the roadworks a year or so ago and considering he operates in Ipswich I don't believe he gives Lowestoft a second thought.

Since the loss of much of our industry and many other small businesses from giving our children future careers and trades thank goodness for Great Yarmouth and Norwich for having the foresight of North Sea oil and providing jobs for themselves and a large amount of Lowestoft workers.

To my way of thinking Lowestoft has a greater future with Norfolk than they ever had with Suffolk. The only people that stand to lose is Waveney otherwise they wouldn't be trying so hard to keep us out of Norfolk. I think this is called self interest.

As for Suffolk, I don't think they care one way or the other otherwise they would not have allowed our town to deteriorate for the last 30 or 40 years.

What is it the people of Lowestoft have asked for over the last 50 or 60 years? A third crossing and everybody is getting excited because they are thinking about it.

Why can't Suffolk County Council give us some of the countless millions of pounds paid in over all these year and invest some of it in our town for once?
