A 39-YEAR-OLD Lowestoft woman has been arrested by police after an attempted armed robbery at a garage in the town.

Two members of staff were at the garage in Mill Road just after 9.20pm last night (Sunday, December 5) when someone entered the store, approached them, threatened them with a knife and demanded they hand over money.

However the quick-thinking staff members managed to raise the alarm and the would-be robber fled, empty handed.

Police attended and the 39-year-old was detained nearby a short time later. She is currently in custody at Lowestoft police station where she is being interviewed by detectives.
