Vikki Daniel was raising money in memory of her step mother Hilary Daniel – who died of a rare cancer at the age of 60 – back in March of last year.

At the event, held at Kessingland St Edmund's Church Hall on Saturday, June 25, people gathered to support the family – including Mrs Daniel's widower David.

Visitors to the event also enjoyed face painting and a bouncy castle – with the funds going towards Sarcoma UK – which supports people with the disease that claimed Mrs Daniel's life.

Vikki, who had the logo of the charity shaved into the back of her head at the event, said: 'She was an amazing person who was always full of life and lived for every moment, so I wanted to make her proud and raise money and awareness for this great charity.

'Also being a hairdresser professionally, I wanted to show everyone that your hair isn't everything especially when you are faced with sarcoma.

'How many hairdressers shave their hair off?

'None to my knowledge, because we are a walking advert for what we do – I wanted to be different.'

'I want to thank Lucy Horne of Stags Barbers in Tonning Street for donating her time and expertise on the day also a thank you to Dragonfly Jen's Face Painting, Lasting Impressions by Leigh-Anne Dewhurst Roberts, Alex from Clownaround Castles, Katey Mills for her cake stall and all my family and friends.'

A large number of businesses and local groups also donated raffle prizes to the successful event.

They were: Picture Studios Voucher, Kessingland Beach Fish & Chip Voucher, Lela Michelle's Beauty Voucher, Headlines Hair Voucher, Lollies donated by Village Store, Gift Basket from Beach Hut Kessingland, Chocolates/Sweets from Dixons News in Carlton Colville, Bottle of Wine from Sailors Home Kessingland, Food Hamper from Spoon Cake in Loddon, Hairdryer from Capelli Hair & Beauty Supplies, Pizza from Pizza Chocolate Heaven in Pakefield.
