Child taken to hospital following collision with bus

A busy road in Lowestoft has reopened after a young girl was involved in a collision with a bus.

The girl has been taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston for further treatment, but it is understood she has suffered minor injuries.

Police and the East of England Ambulance Service were called out following the collision, which happened just after noon today (Tuesday) in Katwijk Way, Lowestoft.

A police spokesman said: “We were called just after noon to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Katwijk Way, The female pedestrian has sustained injuries and she has been taken to hospital.

“The girl appears to have escaped with minor injuries.”

Part of Katwijk Way was closed off following the collision, which happened directly opposite the Stanley Street junction, with traffic being diverted along Bevan Street until the road was reopened at 1.35pm.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 11.58am to a road traffic collision in Katwijk Way, Lowestoft. Two ambulance crews attended the scene and a girl has been taken by ambulance to James Paget Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
