MY name is David Wright and I live in Somerset, I have ties with the past and present generations of the Wrights in the Lowestoft area.

The family tree of Wright began before the 1870s in Leytonstone, Essex, but for the moment until I can find their parents it was started with two brothers James Henry Wright, born 1870, and his younger brother John Edward Wright, born 1874 (John Edward was my grandfather) both were born in Leytonstone.

These two brothers settled in Lowestoft, John Edward Wright was first, he left Leytonstone in 1891 and arrived in Lowestoft and started work on a fishing boat aged 16 as boy cook. In 1893 he married Rosa Alexandra Noel and spent his working life in the Lowestoft fishing fleet. He became a master skipper cert 5646 and died in 1962.

John Edward and his wife Rosa had six children, all born in Lowestoft; John William, born 1893; James Frederick, born 1895 (my father); Rosa May, born 1898; Henry Harold, born 1901; Emma Irene, born 1906; and Sidney, born 1909.

James Henry Wright, the older brother, left Leytonstone for Lowestoft in about 1905 with his wife Sarah Jane and their four children; Mildred Emma Jane, born 1896; James Hendry junior, born 1897; John William, born 1899; and Albert J, born in 1901. James and his wife had three more children who were born in Lowestoft, Donald Louis, born 1906; Olive Lucy, born 1907; and Gwendoline Eleanor, born 1915.
