Yartoft merger a good idea

LOOKING at The Journal website the other day I noticed the idea of a merger of the two resorts - Lowestoft and Yarmouth - is again being mooted.

I do feel there would be some merit in this idea to publicise both resorts as one.

LOOKING at The Journal website the other day I noticed the idea of a merger of the two resorts - Lowestoft and Yarmouth - is again being mooted.

I do feel there would be some merit in this idea to publicise both resorts as one.

Here in the local evening paper, the Leicester Mercury, Yarmouth and other areas of Norfolk coastal towns get some publicity but not Lowestoft.

I do feel such a merger would offer more trade, income and benefits to the area, given the good clean beach at Lowestoft and additional Broads attractions, surely working together can only assist.

Also there may be options to attract conference businesses, whether business or/and Trade Unions, which would bring money into the area.

As a former resident (approximately 19 years) of Lowestoft I feel the potential benefits would outweigh any disadvantages.

With improved investment in the area - generally - not just for a summer season, then Lowestoft could be more than just the most easterly resort of England, again without ruining the town.
