Between 300 and 400 people enjoyed an eagerly anticipated fete at the Barchester Healthcare-run Oulton Park Care Centre.

The fete was held at the centre in Union Lane on Saturday afternoon, with all funds raised donated to the Help an East Coast Child charity.

It featured a barbecue, live entertainment, games, a bouncy castle, craft, cake and jewellery stalls, a raffle, tombola and much more.

'We have about 60 residents at the home and they all really enjoyed the occasion,' Hannah Rouse, activities co-ordinator at the care centre, said.

'The residents held their own sales, some of them got involved and others came for the entertainment.'

With music from The Oulton Broads, there was plenty to keep the residents entertained as some ran stalls and held their own sales while others 'got up there dancing.'

Ms Rouse and fellow activities co-ordinator at the care home, Heidi Innes, oversaw the event and Ms Rouse said: 'This was definitely one of our best fetes. The residents loved it, the staff and those who attended really enjoyed it – we have had so much praise.

'As organisers we were really chuffed with how it all went.

'A special thank you goes to all the helpers who came along on the day and donated items and many thanks go to everyone who turned out on the day.'

The day raised £543 for Help an East Coast Child.

Ms Rouse added: 'This year we did have a lot more people turn up from within the community – and that was great – so we must have had between 300 and 400 people turn up on the day. It was a really brilliant day.'

She added that the 30-minute showstopping display from the Zulu warriors 'was a brilliant way to end our fete'.
