Lowestoft Town manager Jamie Godbold has called on his players to "carry on the momentum" from a five-game unbeaten run.

After an "outstanding" display and performance in a 3-0 away win at Suffolk neighbours and play off rivals Stowmarket Town last Saturday, The Trawlerboys are now in third place.

A scheduled midweek trip to play Brentwood was called off late on Tuesday afternoon following a pitch inspection, meaning The Blues are now due to travel to the 11th-placed Essex side next Tuesday evening.

Before that, a trip to seventh-placed Felixstowe & Walton United awaits this Saturday, January 28.

Reflecting on Saturday's fine win and looking ahead to two away games in quick succession, Blues boss Godbold said: "To go to Stowmarket - one of the top teams in the division - and come away with a great result and performance was really pleasing.

"In terms of the context of the play off and promotion race, it was an absolutely fantastic result.

"The lads were outstanding in really difficult conditions.

"In the first half there was really good work leading to outstanding goals from Louis McIntosh and Adam Hipperson.

"That put us in a really strong position leading into the second half and the third goal from Hippo sealed it all.

"It was a really good team performance and a great shift from all the boys.

"Obviously it was disappointing to have the midweek game called off, as we were looking to carry on the momentum from Saturday - so that will be the focus this weekend.

"The Felixstowe game will be another play off clash against a side who've had an excellent season to date so it promises to be a great game.

"We are going into the game in really good form with a fully fit squad."

With Jake Reed and Josh Harvey back after injury and goalkeeper Luke Holt back from suspension, the only absentee could be Sam Nunn as the defender may miss out against his former side.

Godbold added: "We know what they are capable of, and Felixstowe will be well supported.

"We were very well supported at Stowmarket and hopefully we can get another good following from The Trawlerboys making the short trip along the A12."
