Officials at Lowestoft Town FC have hailed their latest summer signing ahead of the start of the new Pitching In Isthmian League north division.

With the new campaign kicking off tomorrow (Saturday), Blues boss Jamie Godbold has welcomed former Colchester United youngster Harvey Sayer - with the signing of the talented 20-year-old described as "a real coup."

The capture of Sayer comes ahead of interest from a number of other clubs, and after the former Bungay High School student and Norwich academy youngster had trialled elsewhere in pre-season.

After sealing a hat trick of new recruits - with Sayer joining midfielder Tom Fitzgerald and versatile defender Dan White - the Blues boss was understandably delighted ahead of the return to competitive action tomorrow.

Godbold said: "Our latest signing is Harvey Sayer, and we are delighted to get that over the line as he is someone we have had our eyes on since he was released from Colchester.

"That goes back to early on in the summer, and while it may have taken some time, Harvey is a fantastic addition."

Capable of playing at full back or out wide on the wing, Sayer has been trialling with other clubs and after holding off making a decision about his future, The Trawlerboys expressed delight that he has chosen to return to Lowestoft - having trialled for the club earlier in pre-season.

Godbold said: "We're delighted Harvey has chosen us.

"He certainly strengthens the squad and makes us a really exciting attacking force as he gives us versatility, great technique and flexibility.

"He has been in the professional game as a full time footballer and he still has desires to go back - so given the teams who he has trialled with, and the offers he had, thankfully Harvey has chosen us to play his football at Lowestoft for the next two years as a minimum.

"He is a local lad, a former Bungay High School student - so it is a great signing and a real coup for us."

After joining the Norwich City academy when he was eight, Sayer went on to sign for Colchester United in January 2017 and made four first team appearances for the EFL League Two side.
