Awards are handed out at the end of a successful season for the Bloaters

Great Yarmouth Town's annual presentation evening was held at main sponsors the Grosvenor Casino.

Barbara Smith opened the evening with some words on her late husband Brian Smith before presenting the Fred Smith young player of the year award to Haydn Davis.

First team awards went to: top goal scorer Mitch Forbes, supporters’ player Sam Applegate, Brian Smith Cup manager’s player jointly to Charlie Bartram and Elvijs Putnins, players’ player Sean Perfect and Aubrey Darmody most promising young prospect to Sean Perfect.

The Reserves’ awards went to the following: Top goal scorer: Matty Wallis, supporters’ player jointly to Toby Gourbold and Karl Barnard, Brian Smith Cup manager’s player Toby Gourbold, players’ player Brandon Charlton, goal of the season Jake Jones and most improved Thomas Tuffery.

John Baldry’s clubman of the year award was presented to president Arthur Fisk.

Before awards and speeches commenced 75 people sat down for a three course meal.

Rob Andersen made a captain’s speech and gave presentations to volunteers at the club to round off a tremendous evening and an excellent season, which saw the Bloaters finish fifth in the Premier Division of the Thurlow Nunn League.

The club’s annual meeting will be held on Monday, June 19 at the clubhouse, Sandown Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 1EY (7pm).

Gorleston Rangers 29th annual youth football tournament will once again be held at Ormiston Venture Academy, Oriel Avenue, Gorleston on Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16.

With over 180 teams already entered for age groups between under-6 and under-16, early application is encouraged.

There have had enquiries from as far away as Newcastle and Oxfordshire, as well as entries from Irchester, Kettering, Clacton, Colchester, Ipswich, King’s Lynn and Thetford. There are currently nearly 60 different clubs represented across the age groups.
