CHAPPO'S CORNER

IT'S been a very frustrating week, but it's part and parcel of football. You can't do anything about the weather. It's disappointing.

Obviously the Boxing Day game at Brentwood Town was cancelled and then Tuesday night's game at Maldon Town was cancelled, but that's football.

We trained hard on Tuesday night instead. We got the boys together and a hard a really hard session and everyone put in a good shift and now we're looking forward to Saturday.

We worked on things and ran the players as well. They need to get the Christmas festivities out of their systems: the turkey, the mince pie, the drink.

The lads look after themselves any way but they've got to celebrate, but they had a really hard session. Flem (Craig Fleming) and Dave (Carolan) put them through their paces.

It can be nice to get a bit of a break in the season like this. The boys have worked really hard and these are the first two games we've had postponed this season.

Sometimes it can work in your favour but it can also go the other way and we've got to make sure it works in our favour. Our last game was against Thamesmead and a lot of the games were cancelled that day but ours was on and that was a bonus.

It's no good whinging about it, because the weather is the weather and you can't do anything about it.

We've got a tough game at home against Brentwood at the Meadow on Saturday.

They've been up and down this season, to be fair, but they're the same as any side in this league. Every single team is capable of beating every other team. They're a good side, a young side, with a lot of quality in their squad and we know they're capable of coming to our place and causing us a lot of problems and we've got to make sure we're right.

It was good to have a really good training session and we're looking forward to it.

It'll be another big crowd I'm sure, the day after New Year's day so fingers crossed the weather will be good and we can get back playing again.

It's been a big year and we want to thank all our fans, everybody connected to the club, and the media who do a fantastic job and give us a lot of coverage and wish everybody a happy New Year and hope 2010 is as successful as 2009 was.
