LOWESTOFT Town's run in the FA Cup ended in heartbreak on Saturday.

The Blues could not follow their Ridgeons League Premier Division rivals Wroxham, Leiston and Stanway into the next round after they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Cambridge City.

Richard Woodrow had a first half penalty saved and the Blues were made to pay minutes later when Ramon Calliste's shot flew across 'keeper Andy Reynolds.

The second half belonged to Lowestoft but the tie was lost on 70 minutes, after Scott Neilson hammered home.

With a reduced Ridgeons League programme, bottom of the table Whitton United stunned Kirkley & Pakefield with a second minute opener from Chris Williams and although K&P recovered with a Nathan Stone header, Jamie Stokeld saw his late penalty saved to leave the visitors eighth.
