Lowestoft Town's acting chairman has called on everyone to get behind the club, after the resignation of Geoff Price.

Price stood down last week after he said some of the club's supporters had turned against him.

But Joe Annis, who has stepped in as Price's temporary replacement, has asked local businesses and fans to give the Blues their backing as the search begins to find a new chairman for the club, which only a few weeks ago was playing in the FA Vase final at Wembley against Kirkham & Wesham.

In a statement made yesterday, Annis said any potential investors should not be “put off” by recent events.

“Just a few weeks ago this football club took nearly all of our great Town to Wembley where they had the most amazing day and the team made everyone really proud,” the statement said.

“We have a dedicated, passionate Committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes and will continue to do so.

“We brought Jenny Gillett in because of her experience gained with Norwich City FC, we have re-purchased the social club and employed Terry Henderson, an ambitious new manager to run it. We are also actively involved with and planning other very exciting new ventures.

“We call upon all of the local businesses and our supporters to invest in the club via various sponsorship, and advertising opportunities.

“Please do not be put off by current events.

“The club needs your valuable support. If anyone would like to meet with Jenny (Gillett) to discuss our plans and ambitions for the future then please feel free to contact her.

“We very much appreciate our fans and their dedication and we do need their valuable support more than ever next season.

“However, it must also be stated that we will not allow certain outside influences or individuals to further harm the club or bring it into disrepute.”

Annis also offered the club's thanks to Price for his “dedication and professionalism” during his eight months at the helm but revealed the search for his successor is on.

“The committee of Lowestoft Town Football Club would like it to be known that as a result of the resignation of Geoff Price, from the position of club chairman, we are now actively seeking a replacement chairman,” Annis said.

“We are very sad to see Geoff go but respect his decision and would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his tremendous dedication and professionalism throughout his time with us.

“Managers Micky Chapman and Ady Gallagher are doing a sterling job preparing for the forthcoming season with the resources available.

“Team training started on Tuesday and on the back of securing our excellent new first team kit sponsors Jenny Gillett is actively pursuing some very exciting new sponsorship deals.”
