Edwards has again been called up to Trinidad & Tobago's squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica (October 10) and Mexico (October 14).

A �1.35m signing from Sunderland last month, Edwards has already earned 76 caps for his country. However, the 30-year-old will not be going to South Africa for next year's World Cup Finals, because Trinidad are rock bottom of their qualifying group and with no chance of qualification.

Edwards is seventh in Trinidad's all-time list of appearance makers, behind the top two of Angus Eve (117) and current Crystal Palace striker Stern John (109).

Dwight Yorke, probably the country's most famous son, made 72 appearances during his career before retiring this summer. He is the current assistant manager of the national team.

IPSWICH Town Academy player Josh Carson scored for Northern Ireland Under-17s in their 2-0 win over Greece in yesterday's friendly international in Athens. Town team-mates Cormac Burke and Rory McKeown also played. Carson and Burke both started, while McKeown came on as a substitute.
