There was more success this week for footballer Cassie Thompson, who has been named in the forthcoming Scotland U17 Squad.
The former Norwich City centre of excellence player who is now part of Colchester’s U19 Academy will make the trip up north to join Scotland’s U17 squad in Glasgow for a three-day training camp at the start of August in preparation for the forthcoming Euro 2012/13 campaign.
The camp will allow Scotland national coach Pauline Hamill to select the squad for forthcoming internationals away to Northern Ireland at the end of August and Sweden in September leading up to their first U17 Euro qualifying matches away to Macedonia and Denmark in October.
Thompson, from Carlton Colville, who has Scottish grandparents was delighted: “This year has been fantastic not just for me but for the women’s game overall and to receive this call up has to be the highlight of my playing career,” she said.
“To be one of only two English Players in the 28-player squad is a massive honour
“I hope I can do enough to impress over the three days to gain selection for the forthcoming games.”
Thompson is a former pupil of Sir John Leman High School in Beccles.
