LOWESTOFT pulled off a great win at Lovewell Blake Norfolk Alliance Premier Division league leaders and current champions Downham by six wickets.

But it was the spinning trio of Rob Horton, Marcus Bishop and Johan Mostert who did all the damage.

Horton had an excellent return to form, picking up 4-31, while Bishop weighed in with 3-28 and Mostert grabbed 2-50.

In reply, Pete Sims with 54 and Mostert with 70 put on 101 for the first wicket.

It was then left to Dominic Smith with 26 not out to send the champions spinning to a six wicket defeat.

The victory gave Lowestoft 22 points and moved them back up to third in the table, just 13 points behind Downham and 17 behind leaders Vauxhall Mallards.

The A team overcame rivals Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway A by seven wickets at Denes Oval, with S Larter weighing in with an unbeaten half century to keep Lowestoft top of the Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division Five table.

The B team did all the hard work by restricting Old Bucks to 119 but failed miserably with the bat and lost by 40 runs.

The C team average age 16, lost narrowly in a friendly to Shropshire champs Acton John.

Acton hit 189 to Town's 166.

Sunday's team lost by 90 runs at South Walsham, although Billy Brice was the star with the ball taking 7-29.

The A team beat Norwich Wanderers by four wickets.

Wanderers made 131 with two wickets apiece for Pat Richardson, Kaiden Goldspink and three for John Jenner. In reply, Town scored 132-6 with Karl Storey top scoring with 35.

This week, the first team are at home to Acle, the A team at, Aylsham and the B team go to Rocklands A.

On Sunday its Great Melton away and the U17s face Burgh and District of Lincs at the Oval at 2pm.

Tuesday 2pm, Belhus Essex come to the Oval for a friendly.
